Mixed Beans

This New Mexico anthology contains stories  by Pojoaque Pueblo Indians, Santa Fe  artists and Hispanics from mountain villages.   These stories are mostly from before the time when modernization homogenized everybody and everything.

Between 2002 and 20013, Free River Press conducted a series of workshops in Texas and New Mexico.  From this collection, the press assembled two New Mexico anthologies, written by native Americans, Hispanics and Anglos.  The press has a substantial number of unpublished stories by ranching families, including cowboys and their wives.  These will be included in a forthcoming 400-page anthology, comparable in scope to An American Mosaic.

Our first  anthology from northern New Mexico, won the Heritage Preservation Award from the State of New Mexico.
